Tissington Trail: Ashbourne to Parsley Hay by bike

14.9 mi

The Tissington Trail follows the old Ashbourne to Buxton railway north from Ashbourne into the Peak District. It leaves town through a lit tunnel, then climbs steadily but gently past Tissington and Hartington's old station to Parsley Hay, with wide views over the limestone dales.

The surface is compacted gravel, fine on any bike. At Parsley Hay there's bike hire and a café, and the High Peak Trail branches off. Riding back to Ashbourne is downhill most of the way.
