Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito by bike

8.5 mi

San Francisco's most famous bike ride. From Aquatic Park the route follows the waterfront past the Marina and Crissy Field to the bridge, crosses the Golden Gate on the sidewalk shared with walkers, then drops down Alexander Avenue into Sausalito.

Follow the signs on the bridge: which side bikes use depends on the day and time. The descent into Sausalito is steep in places, and it's often windy and foggy on the bridge, so bring a layer. Ferries from Sausalito take bikes back to the city, though spaces can fill up on busy days.
