The Roger Lapébie path, named after the winner of the 1937 Tour de France, follows a former railway through the vineyards and woods of the Entre-deux-Mers. It starts at Latresne on the edge of Bordeaux, climbs gently to Créon and continues to the medieval bastide town of Sauveterre-de-Guyenne.
It's tarmacked, car-free and gently graded, ideal for families. Créon, halfway along, has cafés and a bike centre.
