The banks of the Kamo River make a lovely north–south ride through Kyoto. From near Kamigamo Shrine the route follows the river down past the Kamo Delta at Demachiyanagi, where two rivers meet, to Shijo Bridge and on to Shichijo.
In spring the banks are lined with cherry blossom, and in summer restaurants build terraces over the water. The riverside paths are popular with walkers, so ride slowly and walk your bike where it's crowded.
